Revotec Retrofit Electronic Fan Kits

What is a cooling fan?

When a vehicle is moving forward under normal conditions, air flows through the radiator keeping the engine temperature normal. But if the vehicle stops, especially in summer traffic or on a long slow trail, the engine will have to rely on a cooling fan to force air through the radiator to avoid overheating.

What is the difference between a standard mechanical and an electric fan?

Mechanical cooling fan are connected directly to the engine and the speed is very much governed by the speed that the engine is turning. This has a major disadvantage in slow moving traffic where the fan is spinning slowly conversely when the vehicle is moving at a speed that creates sufficient flow through the radiator and the engine/fan is spinning quickly causing parasitic drag. Finally during the warm-up stage where the engine is cold but the fan is still drawing air through the radiator thus delaying engine warm up. In contrast, electric fans only come on when required and at full speed regardless of engine RPM.

What are the benefits of upgrading a mechanical fan to an electric fan?

Faster warm-up time, less wear and tear on the engine and the heaters begin to work much quicker.
> Reduced parasitic drag on the engine, freeing up power, increasing fuel economy.
> An electric fan speed is much higher when required in stationary traffic or on a slow trail or climb.
