Whether your dog travels frequently with you or you are taking them on an occasional trip to the vets or beach, keeping you and your dog safe is important!

It is important to remember that the Highway Code states that animals must be 'suitably restrained' whilst travelling in a vehicle.

Here are some helpful tips when travelling with your dog!

DO

Use a quality crate, harness or dog guard to secure your pet and ensure that it is fitted correctly.
> Always carry water for your dog.
> Make regular stops on long journeys to give you dog a rest break.
> Be mindful of the temperature of your vehicle and level of you music as these can both cause distress to dogs.
> Help your dog relax by giving them their favourite toy to travel with.
> Always carry a lead in case of emergencies, even if your dog is trained to walk beside you.

DON'T

> Allow your dog to hang its head out the window, this can lead to serious injury.
> Leave your dog in the car alone, it can quickly lead to heatstroke in a hot car.
> Have your dog seated where they are likely to distract you.
> Try not to feed your dog right before starting a journey, this can lead to upset stomachs and motion sickness.

Consider using a dog ramp to reduce strain on your dog's joints from jumping in and out of your car. A ramp is also perfect for aging & injured dogs as well as puppies and smaller dogs who can’t reach!

Fitting a loadspace liner to your Land Rover can reduce muddy foot paws from damaging your car's interior.

Always follow the advice of your dog's vet to ensure that you are travelling safely with your dog.
